Melany James has built a career pursuing her lifelong passion for wellness. Her passion first solidified after becoming a cancer survivor at age 17. This journey lead to the decision that she wanted to enjoy her work, whatever it is she decided to pursue, and she wanted to be happy in life. At age 35, she was once again reminded how short life is when her mother passed away suddenly at a young age. By openly sharing her experiences with others, Mel hopes to inspire them to ‘wake up’ and live each moment to the fullest. She encourages her clients to take back personal control of their health and helps them to recognize the often overlooked connectedness of mind and body. Mel believes that everyone’s journey to success is personal and individual. Her passion leads her to develop strong relationships and seek out the unique story that will form the basis in developing successful programs to support people on their own personal journeys.
The owner of Soul Strength Yoga & Fitness has been involved with fitness and a variety of sports throughout her life and is excited to share her passion for physical activity with others. Since completing her Physical Education Degree at the University of Alberta in 2003, she has extended her learning into teaching yoga and fitness; wellness consulting; and event management. She believes strongly in the power of movement to reduce stress, increase energy and self-confidence, build strength, and improve overall health and loves sharing her knowledge with others. She is passionate about building community and appreciates that the power of the collective is so much greater than the individual. Mel is dedicated to inspiring wellness by creating connections, educating, and empowering.

I’ve been in the fitness industry since 2005 and I believe that exercise is essential to a healthy and balanced lifestyle. I make every effort to include physical activity into my daily life, and, guess what? It feels good! I make sure that I am continually learning, I bring variety and excitement to every training session, it is very important to keep my clients excited and motivated to exercise. Every body is different. I will work with you to find what works best for you! Remember exercise should not be boring, I promise it will be fun and motivating and I would never make you do something I wouldn’t do. So get off your butt and lets workout!
